A Birthday Message From Above

Aunty Mo Memorial Garden

My aunty celebrated her 70th Birthday on Saturday, no longer here in the living as her spirit past 10 years ago this year. She was my fathers only sister and while they had not the strongest of relationships as children in later adult life they had formed a great bond. Her daughters have always been inspirational to me. They babysit me as a child and I babysit 2 of their children as a young adult, now we joke that their children will babysit my kids. In the final days before her passing I stayed overnight with her two daughters at the hospital and watched her delicate breath being to seep away from her.  As a medium and someone who has regular conversations with those who have departed it was totally different feeling to sit and wait for a loved one to take their last earthly breath.

I was not there when she passed and yet her sense of pride, honour and don’t mess with attitude was. She was a strong women who knew what she wanted in life and was never afraid to go get it. So it should be no surprise then that in death she still gets what she wants. On her 70th Birthday she did just that.

My father has planted an oak tree on his property for her, he lives over 3 hours from where her ashes are buried and wanted a memorial garden for his sister. Only a week or so prior he had been to theBunnings the local hardware chain store in Bathurst and found a pot which he would turn over and use as an obelisk to place her original burial plaque on it which had been given to him by her eldest daughter the week before hand at her 10th anniversary. The pot cost $80 and was out of reach for my father to just buy then and there.

We arrived at my parents place late Thursday night and my father and I stayed up talking until 2 am in the morning, we had a wonderful time and he showed me the ideas he had for his sister. As he did I felt the connection with his father, my grandfather who had passed when he was just reaching adult hood. His father relayed to me the way the garden was to be done a message I gave to my father.

Good Friday saw the family just relax on the property and not really do much of anything. On Saturday however my husband and I made our way in a town called Orange, my aunt’s eyes where a brown that often to me looked to take on an orange tone, its how I remember her. We drove to the Bunnings in Orange, there we found the pot my father had spoken about however it was shown under a different price, we called a staff member over who informed us that no it was actually $80. We asked if that was the best they could do, even I chipped in asking for a lower price, something I just don’t do.  As the staff member walked away to check on a new price I turned and say that to the left of the pot they were selling ‘Stepping Stones” I said to my husband there’s the sign we will get it cheaper my aunty wants us to. The staff member returned and offered it to us for $50, we took it. We then brought the glue and found a gecko the symbol the whole family has for my aunty.

Proud of our negotiation skills we head back to parents property to gift the items to my father, once we had them all in place we let him know the whole lot came to $70. He took a picture of it and sent it to his two nieces who then informed it was their mum 70th Birthday today. Something my father never remembers, he is lucky to remember his own.

So on her 70th birthday she did was she does best ‘get what she wants’ we drove to Orange the colour reminds me of her eyes. The pot was located to next to stepping Stones. We bargained (something I don’t do) we got the pot the glue and gecko for $70 and her memorial in the garden by the oak tree in complete.

So happy 70th Birthday to a strong, tenacious, brave, vibrant, women. We all love that you are still around. She had the song below played at her funeral and really it sums it up, as a medium I know we never walk alone and this weekend she indeed showed us all that she still walks with us.

May you all know that you never walk alone.

xx

Devine Time

Devine Time

‘Trust in the Divine presence of timing’ a short little sentence that has filled every dream that came to me last night. A nice little reminder to me to have the trust needed; to move forward without placing obstacles in the way.

Obstacles that we all throw at ourselves every now and then. You know the one that we throw most Self doubt.

So my many dreams last night I am sure where to remind me of how to keep that obstacle at bay. Let the ego rack off since that’s where most obstacles come from and just move forward even if it is only one step at a time.

But why the self-doubt, what was plaguing my mind. Simple really financial issues. It has always been my weakness, even when I am feeling like all is going smoothly in life. The slightest hiccup with finances years ago saw me crumble. I have come along way since then and now don’t allow lack of money to interrupt the daily joy of life. Yet after 8 weeks of my husband not working it was starting to creep up on me. I know where we stand financial right now and we are by no means broke. However I also know how long the money we have left will last and it can be counted in days and weeks not months and years like I would like it to be.

Financial self-doubt was creeping up again, getting ready to raise its ugly head. Well sorry ego I have other planes and it doesn’t involve crumbling at this little hiccup. So last night in my dreams the message over and over again as my subconscious leapt from one dream to another was :

Trust in the Divine presence of timing

And this I plan to do. It doesn’t mean sitting here waiting for the knock at the door and it all changes it means being proactive in life. Too many people think that they can wish it or manifest it by simply sitting there wanting it bad enough. NO! You can’t to gain anything in life by wanting it bad enough. You must be an active participant in life and go out and take action to allow it happen. Divine timing will open the door at the right time, but that wont be your front door it be one of the doors you knock on.

If you follow these simple principle manifesting what you need is achievable:chase the dream

Firstly address your thought process,

  • Negative thoughts allow for continued negativity in your life.
  • Positive thoughts allow for continued positivity in your life.
  • Change your thoughts change your life.

Secondly get clear about what you want and why

  • A million dollars is fine to want but why do you want it, do you truly need it to be happy.
  • Health, happiness and harmony have so much more value than a million dollars.

Thirdly be clear how you ask for it

  • Debt free sure;  Bankruptcy can get you debt free. Or do you want that or the ability to pay off your debt with ease ?
  • If you want a new job no problem, do you need to lose it first, or transition smoothly into a new one?

Fourthly be prepared to work towards the goal, participate and create momentum for it to flow towards you.

  • If you want a new home, you need to be working out the budget, saving extra if needed, get your old home ready for sale,  you are not Dorothy and it wont just fall out of the sky.
  • After the love of your life, they are not knocking at your front door either, so if you stay home and don’t go out socializing they are not showing up. Get out of your comfort zone.
  • New career, but no skills or qualifications in it, well then open the text-book, enrol in the course get working towards it.

Finally never let the obstacles hold you back

  • Be persistent don’t give up because the first door didn’t open, it wasnt meant to, you are meant to keep going, Trust in the Divine presence of timing.

    nothing is impossible

    nothing is impossible

  • When others say you can’t let them know I can and I will.
  • Know you can achieve it. Believe in the power of you.
  • Be thankful for the process Attitude of gratitude.
  • Dont fear change Live without regret.

Climb the dream

Standard

dream treeIn the backyard sat a large tree.

So tall it almost reach the sky.

Louis sat down underneath it and said “ one day I will be able to climb”.

He sat there and dreamt of climbing that tree.

He dreamt and he dreamt of what an amazing day it would.

The years rolled on and time slipped by.

Louis soon forgot the dream to climb.

Instead his days became filled with this and that.

He filled them with work and filled them with that.

Untill one day not so long ago he ventured back  home.

Upon arrival he looked around so many memories so profound.

Louis stepped outside and looked up to the sky the tree was still and still ever so high.

He sat down below in and remembered the dream he had as a child.

Slow he stood and question why, why oh why had he never climbed.

So with new determination he reached for a branch.beleive

He grabbed and held on tight and lifted himself up with all his might.

He climb and climbed.

Reaching higher and higher.

When finally at the top he look around and survayed all he could see.

The world was a very different place from up in this tree.

Instead of why not he suddenly though I can.

Instead of why me he thought yes me.

From the top of the tree dreams came rushing back.

The ability to achieve all that he wanted to be.

He stayed for hours as enjoyed the view.

And as the sun set he climbed back down.

He thank himself for the joy he had found.

From climbing the tree had set him free.

Now life would now be what he wanted it to be.

From that day forth Louis never gave up on a dream.childhood dreams

Most importantly he taught his children the power of achieving their dreams.

So while the tree still stands tall in the backyard.

The children climb and realise the dream.

They are free to live a life just as beautiful as the tree.

Conversation Hour

Standard

Seems that the world is only ever going to allow me 24 hours in the day when I feel like I need 48 or even 72 hours to get all I want done. Why is that there never seems conversationsto be enough time?

Well for me it because I can be a great procrastinate when I chose to be and that I also have so many creative ideas going at once that my time can get wasted jumping from one direction to another never completing anything.

So I have chosen to narrow the focus so that I can then expand my horizon, yes I know sounds a little backwards. However for my mind I need to focus solely on one creative project at time. I am still working on all of them, just narrowing to focus to daily individual devotion to each project. So I have now I have set up a timetable as to what I will be working on each day and at what time. For creative people this can be a daunting task, taking away the pure spontaneity of creation and deliberating focusing on it can for some seem to stifle the creative flow.  For me it has seen a growth in productivity.

It has also allowed me to clarify the direction of each project. Setting clear goals and deadlines. One of my biggest projects is a book series I am working on, while it has been floundering in the background for some time it is now full speed ahead with November 2014 as the deadline to have it completed, edited and art work done…. I never like to take on small projects.

At a writers workshop I attended a few years ago Lucy Cavendish advised everyone there  that the most important part of writing was to ‘show up’. If you showed up and wrote one full-page a day at the end of the year you would have a book with 365 pages in it. makes perfect sense when you look at it that way. So for the last few weeks I have been committed to showing up and writing a page a day. I call it my conversation hour. I have the conversation with the characters and their journey and you know what we have a great time.

Now I know I am expecting a lot and some may say setting my sights a little too high. Well while I understand that life happens and if need be time frames will shift. However as some who knows how easy it is to procrastinate I believe that some of us… a lot of us choose to let life happen and let it get in the way… after all we all look for a way out of doing things at some stage don’t we. So I have new-found determination to not allow trivial life moments and other people’s drama to hinder the progress.

My conversation hour will go on and on untill the project is finished, after all its only 1 out of the 24 hours I have been given each day to use as effectively I want to.

What will your 24 hours allow you to achieve ???   Life is magic

Fall down get back up

Standard

challaengeWow this year has really jumped forward with a bang. In the last week alone I have spoken to more people than ever before who are worried about job security, going through financial crisis and facing health dilemmas. Some would think of this as a bad start and that all these people are suffering, yet it’s quite the opposite. Yes there remains the element of stress, our lovely friend ego ensures we carry some of that with us through these times. However rather than allow their dreams to bust so many have spoken about being resilient and rising to the challenge. For me a challenge is just an opportunity waiting for you to look at it the right way.

During these time is not the challenge that’s important rather the way we respond to it. Do we lash out and cry foul of the universe and what it brings our way? Do we crumble and fall? Do we fall into a depression, get angry and waste time laying blame? Or do we stand up and face it head on? Do we say “I don’t like this but I can change it”? Do we ensure that we nurture ourselves during this time, keep positive and find outlets for stress?

Fall-7-Times-Stand-Up-8The greatest challenge for those facing upheaval in their life I believe is not whether they fall down, rather it’s to get back up and keep moving forward. When a person faces a challenge time they can become to the world around them either an inspiration or burden. For those with children no matter their age it is important to teach resilience, to become the inspiration. We do this by our actions, the words we speak and the response we give.

Life is not about living without bumps, jolts, hills or slides. It is however about a journey, how this journey looks is up to you. In my life my aim is to teach my children to enjoy the journey and to be able to stand back up after being knocked down. To do this my children are aware of the challenges we face. While we keep them informed of what is going on their young ages mean they don’t have to know every detail, yet enough to understand. We don’t walk around in our house pretending everything is perfect, yet we don’t allow negativity and doubt to take control. If we have a bad day we acknowledge it. I teach them how to keep calm, meditation if even for 2 minutes is amazing for this with young children. We do not shy away from our feelings, we talk them through. Most importantly they understand that as a family they are important to us. If they have advice to offer we listen to them, ensuring they grown up knowing how to think about solutions rather than focus on problems. By doing all of this we are building resilient children who are well equipped to change challenge into opportunity when needed in their life.kids

Friends bring Lemonade

Standard

So yesterday I blogged about making lemonade when life gives you lemons. Today I have lemonade! Thanks to some beautiful friends who turned up last night with a gift of lemonade,  a beautiful card that shared amazing words of gratitude, encouragement and inspiration along with an extra surprise that was so unexpected and truly appreciated.20140131_214829

Friends called all day to see how they could help and I am truly humbled by the out pouring of generosity from each of them. Other people let me know how my words along with the way my husband and I were approaching the situation has inspired them to make their own lemonade.

My husband remarked last night how he was touched by the friendship and support that surrounded us. And it got me thinking about the essence of friendship and the impact that we each have on each other. How just a simple act of picking up the phone to ask ‘are you ok?’ can turn ones day around. The act of catching up for coffee… or wine… and sharing stories and laughter lightens the heaviest of loads.

Our friendship are formed in all sorts of ways, through life long knowing, to those we work with, though our children. People who share a common interest, and there are those that cross our path and touch our hearts in the most magical ways. Some friendships come and go, some last a lifetime.

friendship 2I look at my circle of friends and see so many different personalities, so many varying points of view. We come from all walks of life. For some of us we are in daily contact for others we can go months and pick up where we left off like it was yesterday. Each one of us brings to our friendship their knowledge, their understanding and most importantly of all, each one of us is a friend without judgement. For the time we share together is not about judgement it is about fun, laughter, support, enrichment and enjoying life in the company of people who make us smile. These are the people we choose to have around us and share in the living of our lives. I dont beleive there is a one thing that defines a friend …….. its more like a million things.

I look around and I see that people have so many events happening in their lives, some big some small….. Some have been thrown bucket loads of lemons….and what I see most of all is the beauty that each of us is willing to help squeeze those lemons for each other and help make the best lemonade life has to offer us at that time.

So I want to thank my friends you mean the world to me. I want to extend thanks to the people who have contacted me who I don’t know, who have thanked me for helping them with my words. At the end of the day lemonade is a nice drink once you make it, so I raise my glass to you and say CHEERS!cheers

Inspiration comes from………………..

Standard

inspirationWow must have been the most restless sleep I have had in a long time. My shoulder had been hurting all day so I was after a good night’s sleep and that’s not what I got. Instead I was woken so many times, once by son who had a bad dream and then the rest of the night by pain and inspiration.

Several times I woke thinking stupid shoulder and tossed and turned to get comfy again, but as I tossed and turned thoughts ran through my semi-conscious mind. Silly thoughts like what to wear when I wake …. Seriously how about I stay in bed all day….. To write this down it will be good….. Write what down I asked my mind??? Just let me sleep how about that!

No sleep was not something my mind had in store for me so I lay there and watched and listened to the words that flowed through my head. At one stage I was tempted to get up and write them down, but the want to be tucked up in bed kept me there.

Finally I drifted off to sleep, and when I woke to my surprise I remember the words that floated through my head in those early hours.  So this time I got out of bed and wrote them down, without questioning without out looking over it ……. At the end of writing I had written two pages.

Two pages of what totally ramblings smacked together? I sat back and reread what I wrote. I have to say at this time I was smiling like a Cheshire cat!!! In amongst the rambling words were several book ideas.  I have always held the desire to write for children and in there on those two pages where the ideas for the books.

So silly shoulder pain I thank you! The tossing and turning you caused help start a creative journey this morning. Where will it lead I have no idea yet ……one thing I am sure of is that the first solid steps on the journey wmageshave started and all I need do now is keep walking, or should I say writing.

So inspiration comes from ………….. My guess it comes from the time and place that you least expect it. Inspiration asks you to step onto a journey of discovery, to let it lead and guide you and to perhaps push you along the way.

Believe in your rainbow

Standard

I am always inspired when I see people take a chance and make a change in their life. The courage it takes to step out from dark clouds and basking in their own rainbow leaves me filled with happiness and admiration for that person.

It’s often not easy to step out of what seems to be a perpetual cycle of darkness, bad decision-making, heartbreak, financial woes, self-doubt, blame games and internal conflict. Yet it can be done, the first step however is to see the pattern.  If you feel like you are constantly being tested time and time again then there is a pattern to the choices that have been made over and over again. The great news you don’t have to make the same choice ever again.

The next step is to stop the blame game, stop blaming everyone else around you for were you are, stop blaming yourself for were you are, stop yelling at god the universe whoever, and instead take ownership of the current situation. The moment you stop blaming is the moment that you take charge. When has yelling at anyone including yourself every made you feel better about what is going on? Beating yourself up about mistakes only rainbowserves to lower your self-esteem it’s not healthy so STOP!

Once you have taken ownership of the situation you then have given yourself the power to change it!! The power to step away, to move forward, to make change for the better, the power to be YOU!

Grab hold of that power and make the changes you need. Stumbling blocks may appear along the way that’s okay …. Instead of feeling down about them, view them as stepping-stones or a time to rest. Sometimes we need to stop and look back to see just how far we have come. When you are feeling down look up and see the rainbow as you move the dark clouds away.

For my sister who has just stepped into her own rainbow, betting the last money in her wallet to take a chance and make a change. You are my inspiration today, and I say to her and all others wanting to make a change and needing the courage to do it.

Believe in the Power of You, because soon others will see it too!

Deaf Words Bite Back

Standard

How many times have you spoken to your children about getting things done on time only to think it has fallen on deaf ears? I have lost count, no matter how many times I say don’t put it off get it done now, I know that the morning their assignment for school is due they will hit me with an extra bit of work that is needed.

Don’t get me wrong I sit and help my children get through their work but there is always a bit of the puzzle they leave to the last minute and then it’s a mad rush in the house. Everyone starts to feel the pressure and again I hear my self say “Next time don’t leave things to the last minute it won’t finish its self.”

We have all been there with our children doing this mad dash, repeating the same sentence over and over again thinking when will this sink in…… “tidy your room, pick up your shoes, put your bag away, wash your hands….etc” these words just fall on deaf ears…. Or do they?

Just the other week while working on my sociology essay I took a break and while still sitting at the computer I was playing the dreaded Candy Crush, yes I know…. I can hear the “oh dear” from here. Then Master 11 walks past the room and I put my phone down, Candy Crush screen still open on it. He pipes up and says “really mum that 2000 words essay is not going to write its self!” Gobsmacked would be the word I would use to describe my reaction, firstly because he said it and then because my words that I thought had fallen on deaf ears had sank in!

Fast forward another week and Master 11 is doing his assignment, with only three days left to finish it he is busy playing. I walked over to him and asked how it was going and yes those words had hit home “I know mum it won’t do its self!” for the next two days he worked diligently on it and all was completed with no drama and no fuss.

So perhaps it’s not that the words don’t get heard perhaps it is rather that they are hollow words unless they see them in action from a parent. Perhaps they need to see the effect of those words on others for them to be understood. Either way I know now that the words are being heard and that they do listen and when you least expect it them may just bite you back!
